2. Where is your program located? We
are located at 110 Matthews Station in downtown Matthews with ample
free parking for added convenience. The

3. Who can apply? Any student or adult may enroll in one of the
major programs after meeting application requirements (insert
application link here) or they may register to take an individual
class. You don’t have to be a CPCC student or a CPCC graduate to
apply.
4. What are the credentials of faculty
teaching in the program? –
– All faculty will be credentialed according to
accreditation guidelines, with the majority having terminal degrees
in their areas.
6. Is Wingate University private or public?
- Wingate University is a private university located in Wingate,
North Carolina. The institution was founded by North Carolina Baptists in 1896.
The main campus is located in Wingate, N.C.,
four miles east of Monroe. For more information about Wingate

7. What does it cost to attend? - The
tuition rate for the academic year 2007- 2008 is $250 per credit
hour or $750 per three-hour course for part-time or full-time
students enrolling in one of Wingate’s degree programs. Current CPCC
students may take one Wingate University class Free for two
semesters. Additional classes are available at the regular rate of
$250 per credit hour.
8. Are there scholarships? - Financial
Aid is available for all students. Students may register for
financial aid by applying online at
www.fafsa.ed.gov. (Wingate’s school code is 002985).As a student
of a private institution, North Carolina citizens are eligible to
receive the North Carolina Legislative Tuition Grant (NCLTG) as long
as the student carries 12 credit hours per semester. The grant
currently provides $900 each semester or $1,800 for the school year.

students? As a Wingate student you receive
services such as academic advising, financial aid counseling and
career counseling. Students are welcome
to attend athletic events or the Performance Series events on the
main campus in Wingate or shop at the bookstore (www.wingateuniversity.bkstr.com)
and use the Ethel K. Smith Library.

MBA Program
1. What are the requirements to enter the
program? All candidates are required to have at least two
years of business experience, an acceptable undergraduate transcript,
taken the GMAT within the last five years, successfully completed
9 critical business courses at the undergraduate level. The ideal
applicant profile is one with a GMAT of at least 500, GPA of at
least 3.0, and two years professional work experience. However,
all applicant portfolios are evaluated on an individual basis by
the MBA Admissions Committee made up of several members.
2. How many courses does your program include?
The MBA program consists of 33 semester hours (11 required core
courses). Students are able to earn their MBA in two years by attending
two evening classes a week.
3. How are classes scheduled? Our
part-time evening program is geared towards working adults. Classes
meet one night per week per course. Most students take two courses
each semester (6 credit hours) for full time credit, and attend
class two nights per week, either MTWTh. There are no Friday classes
or weekend classes.
Classes meet for 15 weeks during Spring semester (Jan-April) and
Fall semester (Aug- Dec). If taking full time course work, taking
two courses, attending two nights per week. There is a fast tracked
summer session I & II during the month of June and July, going
two nights per week and Sat a.m. for only 4 weeks.
4. What makes Wingate University’s
MBA program better than the rest? The program at Wingate
University offers a one-semester prerequisite course that enables
students without an undergraduate degree in business to move quickly
into the MBA program.
It is also one of the most established and affordable MBA programs
in the area.
Small classes, personal attention: The school prides itself on the
good relationship between the MBA faculty and the students. Classroom
sizes are usually no larger than
25 students to guarantee personal attention.
5. Who teaches the MBA program? The
MBA is primarily taught by full-time Ph.D. qualified professors
who have had several years of business experience. This provides
a perspective that gives the students more than just theoretical
models.
6. What is the tuition? The tuition
rate for the academic year 2007-2008 is
$380 per credit hour/$1,140 per 3-hour course.
7. How does tuition reimbursement work?
This is attractive to students because if their employer has a tuition
reimbursement program, Wingate will defer payment until the end
of the semester when the employer pays. The tuition reimbursement
benefits must be submitted on company letterhead to our business
office.

1. When are your classes taught?
Most classes are taught during convenient evening hours. Generally,
one or two courses (each for one evening per week) meet during regular
academic year semesters. In summer, four courses are generally offered—two
each in two 5-week terms (where each course meets two evenings per
week). Classes are held on Monday through Thursday evenings.
2. What are the requirements to enter the
program? The MAT requires an undergraduate degree in any
area. An education degree is not required to enter the program,
but some prerequisite courses may be necessary. The MAEd requires
an undergraduate degree in elementary education and a teaching license
to enter the program.
3. How many courses are included in the
programs? The MAT includes 15 semester hours in core courses,
21 semester hours of specialization and elementary education content
courses, and a three- to six-hour practicum. It leads to licensure
in elementary education. The MAEd consists of 30 semester hours
and leads to graduate-level (“M”) licensure in elementary
education.
4. What is the focus of these graduate programs?
The programs use the Effective Facilitator of Learning model to
facilitate the development of the teacher in the areas of ethics,
the professional knowledge base, and applied teaching behaviors.
Both programs focus on elementary education (K-6).
5. What is the practicum? The practicum
is essentially a student teaching experience. It can vary in length
depending on experiences and current position, but generally lasts
a full semester. The practicum occurs at the end of the program,
after all other coursework has been completed.
6. Who teaches in the graduate education
programs? Classes are taught primarily by full-time faculty
members in the Thayer School of Education at Wingate University.
Others who may teach include local education professionals, but
all instructors hold doctoral degrees and have significant public
school classroom teaching experience.
7. What makes the Wingate University graduate
programs in education desirable? Cost, convenience and
quality are the main reasons why students enjoy Wingate University
Metro Campus. The education programs concentrate
on building a community among the students so that they are better
prepared to work among and with colleagues in a school environment.
Many students have commented that this is the hallmark of the Wingate
programs—and the reason they recommend them to others.
