Through Wingate University’s lateral entry
program (Teaching Masters) Charlotte area professionals like Eric Doan and Glenn Baron are changing
careers and changing lives as teachers in elementary education.
In just two years, Eric moved from marketing to teaching
fourth grade. Glenn left his veterinary practice to teach fifth
grade through the Wingate University Masters in Teaching program.
Wingate University’s widely recognized Masters in Education
programs
offer convenient evening classes for adults. Whether you need graduate
level course work to excel in the field of elementary education
or you are pursuing a new career in teaching, you will find Wingate
offers high quality, affordable programs.
- Master of Arts in Teaching Elementary Education (MAT) offers
39-42 semester hours leading to the MAT degree with licensure
in elementary education. This program is designed for professionals
with degrees in areas other than education.
- The Master of Arts in Education (MAEd) offers 30 semester hours
and graduate level licensure in elementary education.
- The programs use the Effective Facilitator of Learning model
to facilitate the development of the teacher in the areas of ethics,
the professional knowledge base, and applied teaching behaviors.
The Thayer School of Education is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of
Teacher Education, the North Carolina Dept. of Public Instruction
and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
